I am writing to give you further information on our school’s approach to the Coronavirus outbreak and guidance to families who are unsure of their responsibilities.

Please rest assured that we are following Government Guidance, which is updated on a regular basis.

Today, Thursday 12 March, the Department for Education has issued a statement in response to multiple reports of potential school closures.

Our position on closures is clear: schools should remain open unless advised otherwise by Public Health England.

The advice from Public Health England continues to be for schools to remain open, unless advised otherwise. We will continue to impress upon students the importance of regular hand washing, personal hygiene and the use and disposal of paper tissues for colds and sneezes.

The Department continues to update schools on its response to Coronavirus on a daily basis including the option of a designated helpline for teachers, leaders and parents.

As a school we will be working on contingency plans, to ensure that we are prepared for all possible scenarios. Should a decision be necessary regarding any future closure of the school, we will be working hard to ensure that students would be able to access lessons and resources remotely through our online platforms, Google Classroom, Show My Homework (SMHW) My Maths, Tassamoi, PIXL Apps and SENECA learning.

I will send a further update in the ENews tomorrow.
