DSC03044Seven Year 8 and 9 students recently supported the athletics competition at the Parallel Games in Aldershot and were a huge credit to themselves and Harrow Way School. The Young Leaders were kept busy all day with roles which included officiating the jumping and throwing, encouraging the athletes on the track, helping with the relays and recording positions. They were chosen because of their leadership commitment within Harrow Way School and their local clubs.

DSC03062Bethan O’Brien, on work experience at Harrow Way Community School, also attended the event and supported the New Age Kurling competition.

The Young Leaders really impressed the athletics organiser, Michael Coker, as well as every other official on the track and field. He is keen to have them back to help next year and said: “You have all done a fantastic job and are the best young leaders we have ever had. All the schools and their young people appreciated your encouragement and support, especially at the finish line. You made their day!”

DSC03063Miss Sturges, School Sports Coordinator, said, “It has been an amazing day and I am so proud of our students. Seeing them encourage and support the young athletes so enthusiastically was wonderful. They were also inspired by the athletes and their determination to finish races.”

Well done and a huge thank you to Brendan Harris, Chantelle Gleed, Holly Guiver, Lauren Erskine, Tyler Hiscock, Anthony Wharton, Billy Crockford and Bethan O’Brien.
