The latest and hottest technique in embroidery today is the use of the soldering iron to burn, bond, etch and then stitch fabrics to expand the reach of textile art.
Local artist, Margaret Beal, is the forerunner of the technique and recently spent the day in Harrow Way Art Dept with Year 8 and Year 9 High Achieving art students. Their inspiration was derived from recently completed art studies and, after quickly mastering the control of the new equipment and techniques, they had a creative exploration using a full spectrum of colours. This was a practical learning curve for them all and they successfully completed studies to enhance their level of attainment at KS3.
