Once again Roche Court sculpture park extended a very warm welcome to Harrow Way. A group of year 9s visited the park to view contemporary sculptures and to make a comment on the materials used and what the artist was portraying in the work. The students were also given the opportunity to extend their stone carving skills. Tim Harrisson, sculptor, talked about his work and the materials he used before demonstrating some stone carving techniques. The year 9s were able to carve into Portland stone and were given a selection of pieces to work on back at school. The students also made observational drawings of the granite works of Peter Randall-Paige who is interested in patterns found in nature.
A visit to the sculpture park is highly recommended, for further details please go to www.sculpture.uk.com
