A record-breaking set of GCSE results has seen students at Harrow Way Community School achieve the best outcomes in the school’s nearly 60 year history.
Students have excelled across the curriculum. This success is testament to the ambition, determination and sheer hard work of the Year 11 students, supported by dedicated staff and families. Particularly impressive performances in English, Mathematics and Science have contributed to a record-breaking set of outcomes, with students achieving highly across a wide range of subjects.
There were some stand-out individual performances with several students celebrating a huge haul of top grades, including Oscar-Bertie Vallance, Jess Adams, Head Prefects Callum Bell and Nela Treder as well as Adrianna Cossey and Ella Reid. Also celebrating exceptional results today are Joseph Griffiths, Connor Holloway, Luke Spratt and Lucy Bedwell.
More than half of the cohort achieved an average grade of 5 or above across their GCSEs, representing a significant achievement. While there is plenty to celebrate among the highest grades, these results are about much more than Grade 9s. Behind every result is an individual story of progress, perseverance and personal achievement, and the school is equally proud of students who have worked exceptionally hard to achieve grades that represent their very best.
Headteacher, Mrs. Dawn German, said “These results are not simply numbers on a results sheet; they represent five years of our students’ hard work, resilience and ambition. I must take this opportunity to applaud and thank all the teachers and support staff for their dedication and determination. We pride ourselves on exceptional teaching and learning, the evidence of which we see here today with students celebrating their achievements. I want to wish the departing Year 11s every success for the future.
And there is even more to look forward to. Following a successful recent Ofsted inspection, the school is awaiting the publication of the final report. With outstanding GCSE results and lots of positive news to share from the inspection, there is much to celebrate at Harrow Way. The school looks forward to sharing further details with students, families and the wider community as soon as the report is published.”
