We had a wonderful Open Evening last night, thanks to our fantastic students and staff. It was our best turnout in years, with parents quite literally queuing out of the gate to visit our school! Our students rose brilliantly to the occasion, leading tours, answering countless questions and bringing our school to life. There was a real buzz throughout the evening, and it was a joy to see so many families enjoying what Harrow Way has to offer. It is a real privilege to lead this wonderful school, and I am especially grateful to parents for supporting us with such an important event.

I am thrilled to share that the internal works for our new Resourced Provision have now been completed. Today, we officially take ownership of The Waypoint, and can begin furnishing the classrooms, breakout spaces and life-skills room ready for our students.
This has been a mammoth undertaking. We were first approached about the provision more than a year ago, and the building works have taken more than six months to complete. It has required a great deal of planning, patience and hard work from many people, and we are absolutely delighted with the outcome. Most importantly, we believe this significant investment in our site and our provision will benefit many students, both now and in the years to come.
Inclusion is important to us. We want every young person to feel that they belong here, and The Waypoint will provide an important additional space in which students can feel safe, supported and part of our school community. There is still some work to complete outside, with the landscaping scheduled to be finished, but we are looking forward to seeing the whole project come together over the half-term holiday.

We are delighted to share some more good news with our families. Harrow Way Community School has been recognised by ParentKind as a Parent-Friendly School, achieving its Standard Award.
The award follows a formal assessment against ParentKind's national framework for parent participation. We chose to put ourselves forward for this assessment because we believe that the relationship between school and home really matters. We want parents and carers to feel well-informed and able to play a positive part in their child's education.
Our overall score of 71% reflects Silver Award-level practice across the framework, with particularly strong recognition for our approach to transition, our welcoming and inclusive environment, and the way we communicate with families. We are especially proud that both transition and our efforts to ensure the school is accessible and welcoming for students received Gold-level scores.
Thank you to all of our parents and carers who contribute positively to the life of Harrow Way. You help us to make our school the very best community it can be.

Assembly - House Assemblies This week's House assemblies were a great opportunity to celebrate our successes. While the Kestrel & Kite Houses celebrated their trophy wins from last year, Sparrowhawks were celebrating taking an early lead in this year's race for the House Cup; Sparrowhawks have already earned 1000 House Points this term, putting them 700 points clear at the top of the table. There are lots of opportunities to make up ground, however, as a series of competitions were announced, from the tutor group logo and Christmas card design competitions to our ongoing battle for the Fantasy Premier League and the Halloween costume competition. Can the other Houses catch up with the high-flying Sparrowhawks? Only time will tell...

Year 11 Football - John Hanson 0 - 3 Harrow Way
Year 10 Netball The Year 10 netball team put in a splendid performance against John Hanson A on Wednesday, narrowly missing out on victory in a closely fought match. From the first whistle, the game was played at a high tempo. The girls showed excellent control and accuracy with their passing, maintaining long periods of possession and putting pressure on the opposition. Both teams defended exceptionally well, making it difficult for the shooters to get close to the post.
At half time, the score stood at 3–4. During the team talk the shooters Ruby and Freya were encouraged to take more shots and have the confidence to shoot from further away. This advice had an immediate impact, as the girls fought back brilliantly to level the scores at 7–7 by the end of the third quarter.
In the final quarter, fatigue began to set in, but the team dug deep and continued to work tirelessly. Central players Ivy, Alexia and Isla covered every inch of the court, working hard to move the ball up the court before quickly switching back into defence.
Sadly, the girls couldn't quite hold on, with the final score ending 9–11 to John Hanson. Despite the result, the team should be incredibly proud of their determination, teamwork and fantastic performance.
We are already looking forward to the repeat fixture in Year 11! Final score Harrow Way 9 - 11 John Hanson A. Opposition Player of the Match - Erika. Coaches Player of the Match - Ivy & Isla.

Changes in Family Circumstances
We understand that family circumstances can change and that even temporary changes at home can sometimes have an impact on a young person. If there is a significant change in your family circumstances — for example, a parent having an operation, illness, bereavement, separation or another change at home — please consider letting your child’s tutor know. You do not need to share more information than you are comfortable with, but making us aware allows staff to discreetly check in with your child, offer additional support where needed and better understand any changes we may notice in their behaviour, emotions or engagement at school.
Keeping Us Updated If you are going away and your child will be staying at home or being cared for by another family member or trusted adult, please let the school know. We ask that you provide the name and contact details of the adult responsible for your child while you are away. This ensures that, should an emergency arise, we have the correct information and can quickly contact the appropriate person. Thank you for helping us keep our records up to date and our students safe.
