A group of Harrow Way GCSE PE Students had the great opportunity to be kit carriers for the World Para Athletics Championships, held at the London Stadium at the Olympic Park, over the past four days.

Some highlights were having the opportunity to walk on the warm up track with all of the athletes. We saw Richard Whitehead warming up and Tom and Jamie even got a photo with him. We saw him again getting ready for his T42 100m heat which he won.

PE teacher, Mrs Winnett said:
“Through kit carrying, the students have had a wonderful trackside view, and Adam was even able to walk on to the track to collect the extra equipment for the Women’s T44 race. We also met Gemma Bridge, who is currently volunteering, but will be racing for GB in the Worlds in August in the 20k.”

Students then finished off the days watching the final races in the stands and celebrating victories such as Jonnie Peacock’s 100m Gold Medal ceremony.
