Headteacher Blog – Week 2 – ‘Year Group Ethos and Anti Bullying’

September 21st, 2015

This week assembly theme was ‘Year Ethos and Anti Bullying’.
Year 7 students were told to speak out about bullying if it was happening to them or witness to it. The assembly was supported by these two videos:
For the Birds
Be the Hero

This week year 8 had the Calshot residential trip offered to them. The Year 8 Year Leader also talked about the need for the whole year to work together in order to stamp out bullying and the fact that everyone has a role to play.

Year 9 are getting into the Key Stage 4 Mindset, now they have started studying for their GCSEs. They also touched on not being a bystander to bullying. The presentation including videos can be viewed here.

The first half of the Year 10 assembly enhanced that the year group should strive to do their best and work hard for the next two years to achieve their potential. The second half of the assembly focused on bullying and having a zero tolerance policy.
The Assembly slides can be viewed here.

This week the Year 11 assembly took place in the Gym, students went over the Anti-Bullying Charter and watched the exam video from this year. The Year Leader talked about success but also the importance of relaxation and they tried some relaxation techniques such as laying on the floor and breathing in for five seconds and out for seven seconds.
