Skilful Leadership at Skills4Life Festival

July 15th, 2015

IMG_1060Over the course of two days, about 60 Year 1 children and 70 Year 2/3 children from Endeavour Primary, Knights Enham Infant, Knights Enham Junior, Portway Infant, Portway Junior and Roman Way Primary Schools filled the Harrow Way Community School sports hall with skills, action, laughter and team work. The annual Skills4Life festivals are always enjoyed by children and adults alike, as well as by Harrow Way students who have been taught how to skilfully lead younger children. The young children enjoyed developing communication skills, sending and receiving, balance and team work. All tried really hard to encourage and help each other too, earning their name in the ‘Skills4Life’ bucket if they impressed the leaders.

Harrow Way’s Leadership Academy had spent all term planning and organising the event; they were joined by 25 Year 8 students chosen for their commitment in PE lessons and their ability to lead others. Emma Hunter (Year 9) and Steph Jackson (former Harrow Way Sports Leader) were also a huge support to the first festival. All the students were excellent ambassadors of Harrow Way Community School. They ran two fabulous festivals and led the children brilliantly! Well done to all of them!
