This season sees both the U16s and U15s boys’ rugby teams participating in the Hampshire Cup for the first time. On Wednesday, the U15s travelled to King Edwards School in Southampton for their first encounter. It was to be a bruising battle and the Southampton school proved just too good for the Harrow Way boys. However, with their backs to the wall, the boys seemed to gain inspiration from somewhere and refused to go down without a fight and gained the inner strength to score a succession of second half tries. The final result was 43-17. The current year 10 team are unbeaten in the Andover district and have been Andover district rugby sevens champions since year 7.

For their first game of the season, the U16s travelled to Churcher’s College, Petersfield in their first Hampshire Cup encounter and were blown clean out of the water despite a dogged and determined approach to the game. They will get plenty of opportunity however to redeem themselves later in the season as they are drawn against Lord Wandsworth College, Petersfield School and Oaklands Catholic School in pool A of the competition.
