Year 9 rugby star Joshua Ingram

Year 9 student Joshua Ingram has been selected to represent Hampshire. Following two gruelling stages of selection in his preferred position as No.8, Joshua was one of only 30 players selected from hundreds of hopefuls. Joshua, a member of Andover RFC is a key member of the school’s year 9 rugby team who are currently the Andover and District Rugby Sevens Champions.

Team mate Joseph Joy, also year 9, was sadly unsuccessful this season having gone through the same two stages of selection. The competition for places as a winger is fierce but Joseph remains resolute about his chances of one day representing Hampshire alongside Joshua. A certain Mr (Jonny) Wilkinson also fell at this hurdle as a school boy and he turned out OK!

Harrow Way School is now proud to boast a girls’ rugby squad for the first time ever. Training is currently available to all girls wishing to join the club on Tuesday nights after school. Please see either Mr Reed, Mr Townsend or Miss Gates for further details.

As we are now entering the stage in the year when games are a struggle to play because of the diminishing light, the remainder of the fixtures for all years will be played in February/March. Please see Mr Peters for a copy of the rugby fixture list.

Anyone interested in joining the school rugby squad and Andover RFC (at any age group), should see Mr Peters.
