It was a gruelling 50 minutes of rugby this evening as the Harrow Way 1st XV travelled to The Clere School. The two very evenly matched teams fought for supremacy throughout the entire match until, with just 4 minutes remaining on the clock, an infringement at the ruck gave Harrow Way a penalty five metres from the Clere try line. Quick thinking from Finlay Waite allowed the ball to be shipped out to Stanley North and the Harrow Way fly half scored the decisive blow by running the ball in for the only try of the match. Solid defence and ferocious tackling kept Clere at bay until the final whistle sounded. This win was made even more gratifying as the same fixture last season saw the same Harrow Way side lose 52-0 at home. Richard Peters – Acting Curriculum Leader for PE said after the game “I think this is the best performance I have ever seen from this set of players and they totally deserved the win. A combination of strength, tactical awareness and the sheer desire to win was great to see. The boys should be very proud of their achievement”.
