On Thursday 8th December, we opened our newly refurbished climbing wall located in the sports hall. The wall contains 8 fixed lines, with 16 graded routes. We welcomed Jacqui and Tommy Gentleman from The Jamie G Sporting Trust to open our wall by kitting up having a go at climbing.
The Jamie G Sporting Trust kindly part funded the project to provide equipment for the wall, including: harnesses, ropes and helmets. The rest of the refurbishment was funded by a grant from Sport England.
The wall will be a great resource to students as they will have access to climb in after school clubs and it will be offered as an option to GCSE PE Students. As the wall will be a community resource, the wall will be open to community users during the evenings with an instructor.
