Launch of the Hampshire Book Award 2011

HBA launchOn Thursday 24th March, Bridget Rowley from the School Library Service visited Harrow Way to launch The Hampshire Book Award. It is aimed at Year 8 students and this year twelve participants have been chosen to make up the school’s panel of judges. As part of the awards students have to:

• Read ALL six novels on the shortlist by mid June 2010.
• Attend fortnightly ‘in-school’ discussion meetings.
• Participate in regional voting.
• Be prepared to talk about the books on the shortlist with other students.

Later, in June, two students will visit Winchester Discovery Centre for the final vote and the winning author will be announced. At a later date all students will then get the chance to meet the author at a prize giving ceremony at Winchester Guildhall.

This year the books are:
Diary of a Wimpy Vampire by Tim CollinsHalo by Zizou CorderTwo Good Thieves by Daniel Finn

Monster Republic by Ben HortonYoung Sherlock Holmes- Death Cloud by Andrew LaneTime Riders by Alex Scarrow

All books are available to borrow from the Library.
