Year 9 Rounders – Harrow Way 9 Rookwood 5
Despite the miserable weather, Harrow Way’s Year 9 team opened the season with a fine win against Rookwood. They were desperate to get started due to several fixtures being cancelled so far due to bad weather.
HW batted first and scored 7 rounders in their first innings, but it was their superior fielding that made all the difference. Lydia Moulding and Clara Franklin got many RW players out linking well at backstop and 1st base. Elisha Redstone also taking 2 excellent catches in the deep field. The team managed to restrict the opposition to just 1 ½ rounders and got RW all out.
In the 2nd innings HW scored 8 rounders, taking their total to 15. RW managed a second inning total of 3 ½; Jess Wilson taking an excellent reaction low catch at 3rd base which was the highlight of HW’s second innings of fielding. Lili McLean managed some good hits and Ellie Roche played a steady game at second base.
Well done girls! A good team performance and start to the season.
