Following a 36-0 win against Winton and a 10-0 win against Rookwood, the Harrow Way girls are through to the next round in the Mountbatten Partnership basketball competition. Wednesday 17th December will see them play the winner of Mountbatten, Romsey or Test Valley girls.

Lydia Moulding motivated and captained her team well. Jess Wilson, Ella Howells, Lili McClean, Annie Brookes, Abbie Portsmouth and Ellie Roche made up the rest of the seven girl squad.

From the start of the Winton match, the Harrow Way girls showed a determination to win and outplayed the young Year 7 Winton side. The ball was rarely out of range of Harrow Way’s net and the points were increasing quickly through confident, attacking play.

The Rookwood match was far closer and more physical. Rookwood tried hard to disrupt the flow of Harrow Way’s play – at one time Jess had all five of their players surrounding her! The Harrow Way team continued to play as one, supporting each other and passing the ball around accurately until points could be scored.

All players are to be congratulated on how they played and how well they represented the school. Not only were they always supportive of each other and fair with team decisions, they demonstrated a sporting approach towards the other school teams. Well done girls – on to the next round now!
