Supported by Harrow Way Community School, who provided the certificates and leaders, and by Andover FC who provided the referee, the medals and the trophy, the first ever Rural Schools Girls’ Indoor Football Competition was a huge success!

Although only four teams entered, Kimpton in blue, Shipton Bellinger Primary in pink, Clatford in burgundy and Grateley in Orange, all the girls who represented their schools had a fantastic time and played some great football!

Superb leadership by Harrow Way Sports’ Leaders ensured that each of the teams had a warm up and practice before the competition started. Mr Atkinson, a local headteacher, was extremely impressed with the superb support and leadership of Chelsea Newman, Kayleigh Kennedy, James Redstone and Rebecca Parker. They were a credit to the school!

Mark Pearce, the referee, was also on hand to observe the Harrow Way students in their final assessment. He was more than happy to sign their log books so all four leaders are now qualified to Level 1 in Sports’ Leadership. Well done to them! A thoroughly deserved award!

All the matches were close but with Clatford only dropping one point, Kayleigh’s team were the eventual winners. Shipton Bellinger were second, Kimpton third and Grateley fourth. Keep playing football girls!
