The Year 11 football team avenged the defeat of the Year 7s when they comprehensively defeated John Hanson by eight goals to nil. They looked in a different class to their opposition, who, although competing well, could not live with the quality of play from the ‘eagles’. This game provided the ‘eagles’ with competitive practice before their much awaited County Cup match at Cresswood. Goodson was on fire, and burnt his way through Hansons defence displaying his blistering speed. With Trigell and Urry pulling the strings in midfield and Webb darting forward at every opportunity Hansons defence just couldn’t cope, and ‘old’ eagle Templeton must have been praying he was on the other side. The game was played in great sprits with all the boys knowing each other locally, and to their credit John Hanson kept battling to the end.
