A selected squad of 8 Yr7 footballers performed with great credit at The Clere School on Monday evening. Placed in Pool A the boys played 3 games in the qualifying stages against local opposition. Despite ending the Pool unbeaten with one win and two draws, they could only place second, two points behind eventual champions and local rivals John Hanson School. The boys were extremely disappointed as in the game against John Hanson they led until the final seconds 1-0, when John Hanson were awarded a penalty which they scored to tie the game at 1-1. This proved to be the crucial game of the pool. The boys could hold their heads high though as despite losing the 3rd place play-off game 2-0 to Winton from the other Pool of teams, they reminded Champions John Hanson, “you didn’t beat us!”. Congratulations to the players on their effort and attitude especially the goalscorers, Tom Parkinson, Owen Bowley, and star man once again Joe Lucy.
