Today students got their first opportunity to experiment with the school’s new LEGO Mindstorms NXT robot construction kits. These highly sophisticated kits allow students to use sensors and motors to create robots only limited by their imagination!
The first test of the LEGO kits took place when ICT staff raced dragsters in the auditorium at lunchtime. Now two teams of students have started competing to build and program their own robots against the clock.
In addition to this new after-school club, the kits will be used to support the teaching of “Control and Monitoring” to Key Stage 3 ICT students and visiting Key Stage 2 students from local primary schools.
