Year 8 Cheerleading!
On Thursday 12th July 30 year 7 and 8 pupils took part in a fun-filled Cheerleading lesson at Harrow Way School organised by Year 8 Leader, Mr Carter. The participants worked really hard and produced an fantastic routine in a short space of time. The coaches from Phoenix Stars, Salisbury, were all very impressed with the attitude and effort of all involved. This was meant to be an amazing one off experience, but the students enjoyed themselves so much that they are all really keen to start an after School club.
Oxford Visit
On Friday 13th July Mr Carter organised a Trip for 15 selected students from his Allstars group. The trip was to Oxford University and the aim was to raise aspirations of some of the higher achieving students in the year group. They had a lovely day out in Oxford which included a two hour tour from a current student from the university. The group learned a lot about university life as well as famous people who had attended the university and places Harry Potter scenes were filmed. Students were amazed by the fantastic buildings and impressive facilities on offer. I hope this will inspire them to achieve their full potential.
Geography Trip
Year 7 Geographers visited Hartford River, a tributary of the Beaulieu River in the New Forest to investigate how the river characteristics change downstream. Students measured the width, depth and velocity of the river at two different sites, as well as completing a channel cross section. Students also learnt about the characteristics of the New Forest and created a shelter to protect them against the British weather.
Summer Edition of the Eagle Newsletter
Your child has been given a copy of the Eagle newsletter next week to bring home. Please note that as usual, key dates for the next academic year are on the back page. Our new intake parents will get a hard copy in September, and an electronic version is now on our website.
I would like to thank the staff, students, governors and parents for all their support throughout the year. All that leaves for me to do is wish you all an enjoyable summer break. Mr Serridge, Headteacher.
