Year 11s have now finished their exams and are looking forward to their Prom tonight. All the pictures will be on the website within the next couple of weeks.
Years 7-10 end of term exams started this week - well done to students coping with exam conditions in such extremes of heat. There is another week of exams to go, but hopefully with cooler temperatures. Exam timetables are available to view on the Letters Home Page.
Year 7 Year Leader Handover
Miss Escritt will officially hand over responsibility for Year 7 students from Monday 26th June to Mr Carter, who will take them all the way through to Year 11.
Uniform change
We are changing the way we sell uniform. With immediate effect, all items of clothing are available from our suppliers Stitch a Logo. We will continue to make items available at school until stocks are exhausted.
We have also made changes to the uniform for next year. Our PE kit has been revamped and extended. We have also introduced school trousers and skirts. Please note that this change will be introduced for the new Year 7's in September onwards. Current students will continue with their usual uniform requirements and expectations.
Maths Challenge
We have received the results for the UK Maths Challenge that our top Year 7 and 8 students sat earlier this year. We were awarded 7 silver and 15 bronze certificates. Congratulations to all students involved and particularly to Best in Year Charlie Holloway for Year 7 and Daniel Bull for Year 8. Full details are available to read here.
50th Anniversary Summer Fete - 8th July from 1pm to 5pm
Please come along and support the school in this special year. There will be a non-uniform day on 5th July - an item for the tombola is being requested instead of money. The letter home and list of suitable items can be found here.
HWCS Guarantee Graduation Ceremony - Monday 10th July
Could Year 8 parents please 'Save the Date' for the Harrow Way Guarantee Graduation Ceremony. The evening will start at 6.30 pm and end by 8.15 pm. Letters of invitation will follow once Miss Atherton has completed the assessment of all 180 student portfolios.
Year 8 Calshot visit
More pictures of our students' visit to Calshot last week are available to view on the website.
H-Factor
Harrow Way students and staff wowed the audience at the H-Factor House competition on Wednesday. Congratulations to overall winner Faith Gove and to Buzzard House and thanks to all the brave talented students who took part. Writeup and pictures can be seen here.
Compliments due to our students
I have received two separate compliments about our students - your children - which I would like to share with you.
Firstly I would like to thank the group of boys who were travelling back from London last Saturday on a very hot, congested and delayed train service. The boys voluntarily gave up their seats to older passengers. A fellow traveller asked them what school they attended, as she wanted to pass on her pleasure of seeing such a thoughtful, mature group of young men.
Secondly, I received a thank you letter from a trainee teacher who has spent the last two weeks with us. She was keen to see for herself a school rated as 'one of the best in Andover'. She wrote "Suffice it to say it exceeded all my expectations, with staff and students alike welcoming me into their amazing community. You should all be immensely proud of everything you have achieved because all students were polite and hardworking and gave such positive praise whenever I asked them about their school"
