Despite it being the last full week of term we certainly aren't relaxing!
A group of Year 10 students have been getting up really early every day for 4 days to travel to London to be Kit Carriers for the World Para Athletics. You can see who they have been assisting on our Twitter feed.
On Monday we held our final Presentation Evening and gave out well deserved awards to Years 7, 9 and 10 students. Photos can be viewed here.
On Tuesday we invited Icknield School to work collaboratively with our design and technology experts, with the design and manufacture of new puzzles ready for marketing. Following the design process, our Icknield partners completed research and design development, prior to moving into the workshop to manufacture some really innovative creations using a variety of materials, processes and techniques.
We also spent Tuesday with Year 4 more able pupils from Portway and Anton Junior Schools as they explored literacy through the medium of piracy with Captain Brown and Captain Gregory!
We also hosted the Primary Dance Showcase on Tuesday evening when 150 Year 5 pupils, choreographed by Miss Walker, put on an amazing 'through the decades' show to help celebrate our 50th Birthday. Well done Year 5's, that was amazing!
Parents of Year 4 and 5 pupils were invited to attend our Open Mornings on Wednesday and Thursday this week and were shown around the school by our very informed Year 10 prefects. Thank you - you did a great job!
There was no rest for Year 10 Performing Arts students as they gave their end of term performances on Wednesday to parents and to staff on Thursday.
And finally, Year 8 students have enjoyed watching a Maths Magician today.
I would like to thank the staff, students, governors and parents for all their support throughout the year. Have an enjoyable and restful summer break.
Summer Term Newsletter
The Summer Term Newsletter has been given to your child today to bring home. Do please ask your child for their copy. It will contain key dates for the next academic year. It is also available on-line and can be viewed here. New Year 7 students will have a copy to bring home on their first day - Tuesday 5th September.
New Intake parents - please do remember all the documentation and information you have been given is available for you to read on our New Intake page on the website.
Cashless Catering Update
Over the summer holidays, we will be upgrading the cash loader in the English block to accept the new £5, £10 notes and £1 coins. This machine will now be the only place students will be able to top up their catering accounts with cash. They will however be able to check their catering balances (but not load cash) in the auditorium corridor.
We strongly recommend parents make use of the online payment facility for catering payments instead of sending students into school with cash. Full details can be found on our website at http://www.harrowway.hants.sch.uk/payments and any parents who have yet to sign up and need a reminder of their childs 'link code' can contact the finance office here.
If parents do choose to continue to pay with cash, adding funds for several days at a time will save your child having to queue to load the money. We'd like to remind parents that we are able to set a daily catering spending limit for your child if you wish - the finance office are happy to set this up on request.
Photography Equipment
Our Art and Photography Department is looking for photography equipment - if you have any equipment you no longer need there is a letter on our Letters Home page from Mrs Collins and Miss Fowler explaining what equipment would be useful to us.
Uniform
We have undertaken a spot check on uniform this week and some students have been given a letter to bring home where uniform (particularly skirts and trousers) has not met our uniform requirements. A copy of the letter will also be posted home. In these cases, could I please ask parents for their support to ensure correct uniform is provided for September?
Uniform change
We are changing the way we sell uniform. With immediate effect, all items of clothing are available from our suppliers Stitch a Logo. We will continue to make items available at school until stocks are exhausted.
We have also made some changes to the uniform for next year. Our PE kit has been revamped and extended. Please note that this change will be introduced for the new Year 7's in September onwards. Current students will continue with their usual uniform requirements and expectations.
