Despite this 'first full week back' having been an extraordinarily full one (see below), we have enjoyed a wonderfully positive return to school. Buoyed by our very good GCSE results, some super refurbishment work and the return of well-turned out, enthusiastic students who have re-settled immediately into the business of learning, focus and school routines have very quickly resumed; we are once again firmly back into The Harrow Way! Our new Year 7 students have had another great week. They have transitioned seamlessly and our older students are, as always, providing exemplary role models for their younger peers.
This week's assembly theme was 'Year Group Ethos/Team and Anti Bullying' led by myself and Mrs Carter. Have you seen the video of Ferrari's F1 pit crew doing a pit stop in around two seconds? Even after watching it multiple times, it can be a challenge to understand how a team of nearly 20 people can work so quickly and efficiently as a cohesive group. We talked about the importance of working as a team at Harrow Way. Look what a team can accomplish with ONE shared goal in mind.

Year 11 Information Evening
It was a great pleasure to welcome so many year 11 students and their parents to our information evening on Monday. We took the opportunity to outline some key messages for the year and ways that students, school and home can all work together to ensure every student has the best opportunity to meet their potential this year. The crucial value of attendance was highlighted. Students and their families had the opportunity to meet and talk to many local providers including colleges, apprenticeship providers and local employers to help explore post 16 options. Click here to see the Presentation Slides from the evening.
Year 7 Information Evening - Monday 17th September

Year 8 Girls HPV Immunisation
Our Year 8 girls were very calm and well behaved for this immunisation. Well done ladies!
Sporting Activities
The sports clubs timetable for the Autumn Term is now available to view on the website here.
We reported on Phoenix Jones reaching the national finals of the Wee Wonders Golf Tournament at the end of last year. Phoenix and his family had to travel to St Andrews during the summer holidays to compete. He played really well, and came 15th out of 35 in his age group, playing with a handicap of 5 in some games. Well done Phoenix!
Year 7 Roald Dahl Day
Many of our Year 7 students came to the Library on Thursday to celebrate Roald Dahl Day with book readings and activities. They also took part in Kahoot quizzes with questions about Roald Dahl and his work and earned extra stamps and house points. A big thank you to two of our Year 8 boys for devising and running the Kahoots.
Year 9 Art visit to Roche Court
30 Year 9 students visited Roche Court Sculpture Park yesterday and showed great maturity whilst they were there. The trip enhances learning for the students current project on Circles & Rings. During the trip they viewed and discuss contemporary art work and participate in artist-led workshops.
