Coronavirus Update – 19/03/20

March 19th, 2020

School open as normal for all year groups –  Friday 20th March 2020

Last night the Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Education announced that schools are to close at the end of the day on Friday 20th March 2020, except for the children of key workers (as defined by the Government) and pupils deemed vulnerable.

At this stage we don’t know how long this closure will be for but we are working on the assumption that it is likely to be for some time.

We have been working on contingency plans in anticipation of this announcement and with two weeks of term time remaining, we want to reassure you that we will be providing your child with school work. Details of these arrangements will be emailed tomorrow

Schools have been asked to close to everyone except children of ‘key workers’ and ‘vulnerable children’ from Monday 23 March 2020. Please do let us know via the Google Form we have already sent out if you feel that you fall into one of these categories and no later than 10am on Friday 20th March.

All other children must stay at home from Monday 23rd March.

You may also be concerned about public examinations but rest assured that we have been monitoring and evaluating your child’s progress throughout the academic year which will ensure they receive fair outcomes based on a process to be announced by the Government in due course (we have been informed this will be Friday).  We will continue to keep you updated on this if your child is in Year 11.

Harrow Way is more than a school, it is a community and for the coming weeks this community will work together in a different way but I can promise you we will work together and we will work tirelessly to support every individual student and family in this challenging time.

We understand that this is a difficult time for everyone but if you have any questions please email us via the normal Contact Details page on the website.
